Eureka 71B Review
62The Eureka 71B is a solid little performer
After going through multiple handheld vacuum cleaners over the years, it seems as though I would have to give up on my search to find a perfect vacuum cleaner.

I had tried the hand-held versions that did not come with a cord, and they were fine, but not quite powerful enough to make an impact on my messy room. Next I had a Dirt Devil Gator but I was disappointed with the performance, and then the cleaner just stopped working for no apparent reason. Finally though, I may have just found a keeper – the Eureka is a cordless handheld cleaner that is both small and powerful, and it even manages to keep my sofa free of the hairs that my cat Chester leaves on his “travels”.
Sucking Power
You can tell straight away that the Eureka 71B is packing a little bit more punch than other brands of vacuum cleaner. The shape is bulked up, like a mini vacuum cleaner on steroids, and it weighs a little bit more than it looks too. Turning it on and the noise is quite “throaty”, if you clean what looks like clean surfaces it really is amazing how much stuff is collected in the bagless body at the end of a cleaning session.
Good Points
The main things I love about it are:
The
attachment size that it takes is standard sized, so all the bits and
bobs that I have collected over the last few years fit into it perfect. I
have amassed quite a collection of vacuum attachments, and I’m glad I
kept them even though my partner has moaned about them being in the
cupboard for ages.
The
mini hose that comes with the Eureka is pretty good, it manages to get
right into the rails under the front seats of my car with no problems –
it is the first time that I have managed to get into them with a cleaner
without having to take the car to be valeted.
The
fact that it plugs in suits me just fine too, since I have had too many
cordless vacuum cleaners that have really failed me with their rubbish
power in the past. The cord is really long too, which means that I don’t
have to chop and change plug sockets when I am cleaning my room.
Bad Points
The cleaner is a little bit too heavy when it comes to supporting it to clean vertical surfaces such as the large curtains in the downstairs room. It’s fine to hold for a minute or so, but after that my arms really start to burn! I wouldn’t have it weighing any less if it meant that the power of the clean was in any way diminished however.
All in all the Eureka 71B is a great little cleaner that hasn’t let me down yet. The ease of use, ability to get into the tightest of spaces, the bagless design, not to mention the wonderful sucking power make this one of the best cleaners I have ever owned.
